Anthony Atkins

Anthony Atkins' "Moondance" is featured on the Aqua Vitae can and he has an illustrious career as a master artist that has continued to evolve over the years leading him through a progression of numerous styles and mediums.  From his beginnings in sandblasted glass and marble, to years of fabricating glass and metal sculptures, to his current passion of creating unique works of art through stained-concrete floors and Venetian-plastered walls and ceilings, Anthony has continued to expand his horizons through both new and old-world styles of art.

Anthony began experimenting with sandblasting in 1978 as a hobby to create special effects on  marble and tile. Sandblasting quickly became his passion and he worked relentlessly until he mastered this unique art form of sandblast etching and carving. The word spread quickly about his unique talent.  By 1982 Anthony was sandblasting full time working mainly with architects and designers creating works of art for them on everything from glass and marble furniture, doors, crystal vases and corporate logos and awards.

In the spring of 1987 Anthony created the "Tree of Life" menorah. It was the first of seven etched glass menorah designs to be produced by Anthony. The response to these new menorahs was so incredible that in 1988 he added non-etched sculptural glass menorahs and Shabbat candles to his line. His new contemporary glass menorahs were also an instant success and within a year he had orders form over a hundred galleries nationwide. Now with over 80 designs of Judaic art, Anthony is the undisputed leader of contemporary Judaic glass art in the nation.

In 1989 Anthony expanded the scope of his glass art by introducing free form glass sculptures to his line. By bonding highly faceted and multi-colored pieces of glass together, Anthony created these three-dimensional sculptures that refract light with an amazing array of color and light.

By mid 1990 the demand for larger pieces of his work led Anthony to add metal to his medium. Working mainly with stainless steel for its durability and acceptance of a vast array of special finishes, Anthony is now creating freestanding sculptures, wall sculptures, and furniture for both residential and corporate collectors.

Most recently Anthony has been working on applying his unique style to creating works of art on the very surfaces that surround our lives - the floors, walls and ceilings that we see every day.  By combining new techniques in concrete staining plus old-world methods of applying Italian plasters, Anthony is able to transform an everyday environment into a truly unique work of art.

Anthony's quest to create museum-quality art continues to add new dimensions, techniques and mediums to his unique designs. Throughout the world his works of art have become part of countless corporate and private art collections.
